Coombs Camp

A few weekends ago my parents came up to visit me. We decided to try something different and booked into a tented camp just out of town. The place is called "Coombs Camp", it's a privately owned game farm that has self catering tents and cottages that tourists can stay in. We expected to spend the night in one of their tents, but as it was cold the owner booked us into a cottage instead. Although he didn't consult us first it was a very sweet cottage and so we decided to stay as we were. There are several types of buck and game on the land, including springbok, bushbuck, rooi hartebees, blesbok and others. There are also warthog and monkeys as one would expect in the South African veld. The cottage has no braai place of its own but you can walk up to the comunal lodge, containing a bar, lounge and kitchen, there you can also find a swimming pool and outside braai area. We had a lovely evening of braaing, drinking lots of wine and playing 30 seconds. You are free to wander the camp as you please and can take a drive down the trails to do some game watching. All in all it was a lovely and relaxing stay and a great place to spend some quality time with my parents. Above is my father, Jim, leaning on the Coombs Camp gate sign.

My cousin, PJ, who attends the same varsity as me, accompanied us to the camp.

Beach at Sunset

I took these photos on a beach in my home town. It always looks beautiful at sunset. I enjoy taking pictures of birds, it's not as easy to get a good, clear shot as one would think. The seagulls were fun focusses, it's hard to get close to them without scaring them away, so you have to practice your ninja skills. I love the colours in these pictures, especially the purples, pinks and blues that get picked up in the water at sunset. Hope you enjoy them :)

Burlesque

I took this for a Burlesque themed matric dinner last year. The girls really went all out with their outfits, it looked great and I had a blast taking the photos.

Res Garden

These tiny birds were hanging around outside my varsity res today and I couldn't resist grabbing my camera too get a few shots of them and the garden on a great day. It made me late for my lecture but it was worth it.

Lost Shoe

I took this while camping at this great place my family goes once a year, usually for my dad's birthday. Its called Slagboom, I reccommend looking it up if you enjoy camping, canoeing, jumping off scary high cliffs into deep river water and that sorta thing. Anyway, this is one of my favourite pics, you could get all deep about 'it's meaning' but I think I like it just beacause.
